- bloq question:

Thinking about all you have expierenced thus far in the Bridge Program - what have you learned? What are your thoughts about how you are doing? are you excited to successfully pass? if so - why are you so excited? Just marinate on your thoughts about Bridge and express yourself...

  1. I learned that i can basically do the work and its easy, just that i never apllied myself untill now. I feel that i am doing better than i have done in the past 4 years. I didnt feel challenged, thus i B.S. the work. Yes I cannot wait for school to start in order to meet more people than the ones just in this program.

  2. I honestly never thought I would like school. I do now though. I may seem stressed out to many of you. It's funny though, on weekdays I kinda want the weekend, but when the weekend comes I want to be in class. I loveeeeeee how our English is because of all the talking about everything and the in depth discussions we have. I never had this in an English class. I have also learned that I have more to think about things because I am away from home, this is good and bad. Overall I am excited to start school here if I pass. Being here really has showed me how happy I am for choosing Columbia.
(I dont mean to sound cliche or sucking up) I just genuinely want to be here (:

  3. I have learned how to be a better writer and put more thought into my writing; I think I have improved greatly. At first I didn't want to be here because I felt that it was people who didn't do so well in high school but now I realize that it's beneficial. I'm glad I decided to go through with it.

  5. i like the bridge progeam because it tells you what you need to work on. also, it tells you what your strenghts and weakness are, and if your ready for school in the fall. in the bridge progeam i've learned how to express myself better, and communicate. i also like how it shows you what college is like.

  6. I feel like I needed the bridge program to prepare me for college. I feel like high school, should have been more helpful and strict. I know that Columbia will be super helpful to help me prepare for my future. I just like the fact that Columbia gave us all a second chance for something we really want - A GREAT COLLEGE EXPERIENCE.

  7. I agree Clarence! Having these talks, workshops, jammin' with jeff sessions, and in class discussions has helped me realize myself and my writting. It has helped a lot determining how I write and what I need to improve on.

  8. This is good to hear--for the most part. It's clear when students are BSing their work and it happens sometimes because of time management and things that you all deal with. It's tough.

This is, in all honesty, a very hard program to teach because I don't love assessing you and not getting a chance to meet y'all one on one. I am excited to be in the "essay" part where we can finally start talking as individuals.

This morning, for the first part of class, you were all pretty quiet and seemed to "not want to be there." I'm hoping that reading out loud, having the work in front of you, and seeing your patterns identified helped. If there is ANYTHING you want that you aren't getting, please let me know.
