If the whole is equal to the sum of its parts than our "whole" cannot be reached until our parts are gathered and acknowledged. This blog will act as a collection, a gallery that records our “parts and particles” (our particulars) in an effort to connect the dots; to endlessly connect the dots.
truthfully i didnt even know what lollapalooza was untill last week. I am not a big fan of crowds so i know that i was not going to be going there. i know that there want alot of hip hop or r&b, things like lollapalooza should have more diversity to return a better outcome and gain a bigger profit.
I dont have any thoughts on Lollapalooza because I dont know anything about it. Maybe you can give me some insight so I'll be able to answer your question.
I feel they should have added more hip hop or r&b groups or artist. They had B.o.B., J.Cole, & Erica Badu. That is about it. I wish they had opened up with the genre ranges.
I feel that this event is a great event. It is really a music lover event. A full day (or full 3 days) of music and people who love music. The evnviorment was outragous. So many people that share a common interest.
I have never been to Lollapalooza but I have always wanted to. Every year they have an AMAZING lineup full of bands that i listen to. They always have awesome mainstream headliners as well.
Lollapalooza is well known and well respected on a global scale and attracts people from all over the country and the world. It brings more life to Chicago, which Chicago has with or without it. But i think that it is a great way to bring people together in an urban setting. It helps business, and makes people happy. And for all the people who live in chicago and hate tourists and loud noise, get a hotel on the north side for 3 nights or dont live in a big city.
my thoughts are really general because i never really cared much for it. till recently because of most of its artist. i use to think it was just a rock festival and im still not sure what it is, can someone explain what is lollapalooza is?
Honestly, I have always wanted to go to Lollapalooza, but have been financially incapable of going. A few of my roommates and I stood outside of it during certain bands just to experience the liveliness of the crowd and the energy and enjoyment of the music. It was amazing to see how many different people go to this and the variety of bands or musicians playing under one "tour"(?) Afterwards, the crowd took over the streets and it was crazy to se everyone just coming together and everyone being happy for once. I definitely got a sense of power from it, knowing such a large group of people have so much influence.
I think it can basically be summed up that Mumford and Sons was the best band to perform there. If you think otherwise then you are incorrect. I have never been to such an event so I'm not sure how the other bands sounded, or how the event was. Regardless of your views on the bands or the event Mumford and Sons is unarguably the best band that was there. It is beneath human existence to listen to any other band besides Mumford and Sons. I don't make this rule, I just follow it... I swear...
OH MY GOODNESS! I thought that it was amasing besides the fact that it is 250 dollars a day! but it worth it if you like all the bands that are there. By far the best year of lolla was like two years ago when kayne west and bunch of other bands that were there.
i like how it has the diversity of music. i feel there should be more chicago artist, since it's in chicago. i feel that it's too exspensive. i also feel that it should free to the public or aleast a cheaper price, because it's alot of people that would love to go but cant cuase it to cost to much.
I love love love huge shows like lollapalooza! There was only a few groups (Agaiant me! Lady gaga and minus the bear) that I really wanted to see. But Warped Tour has the same layout but definitely geared towards my taste of music a lot better.
I just think that a whole day (well, weekend or lollapalooza) is just great for the community and an awesome chance for not very well known bands to have a chance to be heard.
I didn't check it out but had last year and liked it besides most of the commercial aspects. My complaint though is that a music festival by nature is supposed to have a certain availability to where all sorts can attend, being that music is a very human thing and is built on a community feel. But Lollapalooza isn't affordable at all, with prices upwards of $200 for 3 days, ultimately defeating the purpose of a shared event. They can put together some cool line-ups but as a money grab the festival is unfair.
What do you mean here Charlie? Do we enjoy the bands playing? Do we enjoy the idea of all-day mass music festivals with ridiculous crowds and ridiculous spending? It's difficult to produce a worthwhile answer to this question as the implications behind it could go into countless venues.
If I were to take this question where my brain normally takes things, I don't have a lot of interest in Lolla. The bands are nothing I'm that familiar with, the cost is far too high to justify, and the crowds would inspire me to hyperventilate or erupt into a bloodthirsty rage rather than experience the joy of community with my fellow man.
Am I too old? Am I too poor? Am I too tired? Am I just too jaded and alienated by the amount of bands that are filtered weekly through the Chicago Reader and the Red Eye to even be able to pay attention? To me, knowing what's going on at Lolla is like following college sports. You can connect to any of the players because by the time they hit it big, they are gone, and no one wins, it's just a bunch of lame bowl games brought to you by Doritos.
Ok I see, so its basically a music festival with mostly rock bands? Thats what I've always thought of it. I thought it was just like a rock band festival so I was never interested in attending in the past. I am still indifferent about attending though because I dont know if I would be too entertained by the bands. It might be better if there was a mixutre of genres instead of mostly rock.
Lollapalooza is a music festival that has over 130 bands and artists. It is entertainment for music and everyone loves to be entertained. It is uplifting, it makes people want to do better, it makes people feel good about yourself. Music is related to everyday life because it allows feelings to be expressed through music and beats.
