Propostion 8 is about gays and lesbians wanting to have the right to marry. but many people dont feel that they should have the right to marry, because of religious reasons. so many gays have been campaigning to get the right to marry. i feel they should have right to do whatever they want because everybody should have equal rights. I can connect this to the book Persepolis, because the main character and her family is fighting a for their rights too. The characters in the story are seperated from other "Classes", and cant share the same right, because of reglious reasons. Just how gays cant share the same rights as striaght people because of their own beliefs. I can also connect in the book many people were killed for fighting for their rights, just how many gays were hurt and killed for fighting for their rights.

  1. Christian, this could be a little more specific. So, where in the book do you see people fighting for rights and/or dying for rights? How are the classes divided and where do you see that in the book?

I like the relationship between economic class and sexuality, but I wonder a little about putting the two types of discrimation side by side. Class is a human created concept, but is sexuality a human construct? I mean to say, we don't have to have class systems or money, but we do (and there are inherited cycles of poverty and issues that come with this), but sexuality and our sexual preferences only seems like a human construct when we look at issues of monogomy or discrimination based on preference. Did I go on a tangent?

  2. This is an interesting topic and I am unsure about it all. Sometime this topic is used to weave out others and their sexualities, which makes other sexualities differ and/or judge the other.

In my opinion, some don't need to know if you are married or not because other judge you when they want, even tho they have there sexualities--they might not want to let others know about so they will not be discrimiated against.

At times people do not care about who or what judges them because they believe in their inter selve. This is not for me to choose so I do not try to, this is only my opinion and you can take it how you want.
